  • Applications are now considered every month usually the last Friday of the month. We will notify you as soon as possible after the meeting with the decision of the Trustees.

  • Applications must be made on GAD’s form and should be accompanied, where possible, by a letter of support from a person qualified to comment on the request and the need.

  • At least one quotation is needed.

  • Applications may be made by an agency on behalf of an individual but must indicate that the applicant (or other agent) has consented to the application being made on his or her behalf.

  • The maximum grant available for individuals will not normally exceed £500.  The maximum grant for a group or organisation will not normally exceed £1,000

  • Only one grant application will normally be considered from any individual in any 12 month period.

  • For reasons of health and safety, all applications for disability equipment must be supported by an assessment of need and suitability prepared by a qualified health or social care professional.  In all cases GAD reserves the right to request a minimum of two quotations from recommended suppliers.

  • A false statement by an applicant, an agent, agency or applicant organisation will automatically disqualify the application and no further application(s) will be considered.

  • Grant applications will be acknowledged on receipt. The Clerk or Chairperson has the authority to reject an application that does not meet the disability criteria. A sympathetic refusal letter will be sent in such a case.

  • Applications will be processed for consideration at the next available meeting of the Grants Committee.  All members of the Committee will receive papers at least five working days before the meeting.

  • All applications meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered but the trustees reserve the right not to make a grant or to defer making a grant pending receipt of further information

  • Approved grants will only be paid against invoices received by GAD and cheques will be paid to the originator of the invoice.  Direct payments to individual applicants will not be made. Groups/organisations must sign a receipt confirming that the grant will be used for the purpose intended.
